Fort Morgan, CO. 03/28/16. Morgan Community College (MCC) Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) announces an Open Mic Poetry Night featuring Wendy Videlock on Friday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in Founders at the Fort Morgan campus.
Those interested in reading for Open Mic should arrive 15 minutes early to sign up. Please feel free to share any original poem or favorite poems by other authors. The evening will begin with community poetry readings from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m., followed by a reading by featured poet and artist, Wendy Videlock. The mic will be open again for community poets and readers from 8:10 to 8:40 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by MCC’s Creative Writing Club.
In addition, Videlock will offer a two-hour poetry workshop, “From Lucid Rhythms to Barbaric Yawps,” on Saturday, April 9 from 12–2 p.m. in MCC’s Spruce Hall, room 318. In this interactive class, attendees will explore the various ways modern poets have achieved a recognizable vision, personality, or unique voice through meter, diction, imagery, impulse, and trajectory. The class will also conduct a couple of brief writing exercises. Those planning to attend the free workshop should bring paper, pen, and a poem you’ve written or a favorite poem by a poet you admire. The poems will be discussd and critiqued during the session.
