Fort Morgan, CO. 03/08/17. Morgan Community College’s (MCC) Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) announces the sixth annual “Best of the Best” student art exhibition. The exhibit will feature work from area junior high, senior high, and post-secondary schools. It will open on Friday, March 17 at 4 p.m. at the CACE Gallery of Fine Art, located at 300 Main Street in Fort Morgan.
Each school will be submitting a number of outstanding student artwork which will be reviewed by a jury of three. Selected pieces will be showed during the “Best of the Best” student art show. All area schools were invited to participate. This year’s exhibit will include student artwork from Morgan Community College, Fort Morgan High School and Middle School, Wiggins High School, Brush High School and Middle School, Lincoln High School, and Prairie School. Artwork will be on display at the Gallery through April 7, 2017.
In addition, this year’s exhibitors will have a chance to be awarded for their work. “We are especially excited this year to offer cash and prize awards,” exclaims CACE Visual Arts Chairman Rachel Kellum. “Thanks to the generosity of three local businesses, we will recognize four student artists.” Awards are: $75 for “Best of Show,” courtesy of Ehrlich Toyota; $50 for the “Award of Excellence—secondary and post-secondary,” courtesy of Morgan Lanes; $25 for the “Award of Excellence—middle school,” courtesy of Ehrlich Toyota; and the “People’s Choice Award,” a $20 gift certificate courtesy of Willow Coffee, Tea & Smoothies.
The public is invited to attend and help celebrate the accomplishments of local student artists on Friday, March 17. An award presentation for the students is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. during the exhibit’s opening reception.
The CACE Gallery of Fine Art is open every Friday evening from 4 to 6 p.m., and is often open for visitation during weekday business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If the gallery sign is on the sidewalk, it’s open!
