Press Release

Fort Morgan, CO. 05/12/17. Morgan Community College’s Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) announces the final art exhibit of the season, “DomesticTapestry piece titled "Homebound" Tapestries,” by artist Angela Eastman. The exhibition will open on Friday, June 2 with a reception at 5 p.m. followed by a presentation by the artist at 5:30 p.m. at the CACE Gallery of Fine Art, located at 300 Main Street in downtown Fort Morgan.

Eastman’s selection of sculpted work combines metal and textiles that allude to the delicate balance of structure and chaos in daily life. “My works are indicative of the processes I use to evoke tension and balance through materials and forms,” says Eastman. “I rely on the heaviness of steel contrasted with the lightness of thread, reed, and other materials to convey a poignant sense of weight.”

The artist attended Colorado College. She then received training in traditional craft techniques through the Core Fellowship at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is in the collections of The Colorado College and Duke University.

The Gallery has scheduled hours on Friday evenings from 4 to 6 p.m. and can also be viewed during regular business hours. Admission is free. The exhibit will run through July 6, 2017.
