Fort Morgan, CO. 08/28/17. Morgan Community College’s Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) announces its first art exhibit of the season, “People and
Places Around the World,” by photographer Jon Yamamoto. The exhibition will open on Friday, September 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the CACE Gallery of Fine Art, located at 300 Main Street. The Gallery will also be open during the Fall Harvest Car Show in downtown Fort Morgan, with Saturday hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“The exhibition would allow the community to view different parts of the world,” shared Yamamoto. “The collection will include places and people in their everyday lives, as well as monuments, events, and views not necessarily seen by a tourist or the public.”
An opening reception will be held on Friday, September 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. and will include a presentation on culture and photography by the artist at 5:30 p.m.
Jon Yamamoto has over 43 years’ experience as a professional photographer working around the world. Assignments and projects through his long career have been diverse, including architecture, advertising, editorial, events, fashion, motion picture production stills, music, portraits, public relations, sports, and travel.
According to the artist, photography has been a life-long passion that has opened the door for him to meet different people and document their lives and culture. In November and December 2010, Yamamoto traveled to Haiti. During a March 2012 trip to Japan, he documented the aftermath of the previous year’s earthquake and tsunami disaster. “Capturing the moment is my life!” adds Yamamoto.
“It is such an honor to have Jon share his photos at the CACE gallery. You can see the excitement in Jon’s face when he has his camera in hand. Jon truly loves his craft, and his photography will allow us to share in his own rich and diverse experiences,” noted Dr. Curt Freed, MCC President.
In addition, Jon Yamamoto will conduct a two-day photography workshop at MCC. The workshop will be on Saturday, September 30 and Saturday, October 7 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., breaking for lunch from 11:30-12:30 p.m. The workshop is designed for all interested in photography, regardless of their experience—beginners and professionals are welcome.
