Fort Morgan, CO. 12/04/17. Morgan Community College (MCC) welcomes Elinor Brown as MCC’s new Manufacturing Pathways Campus Coordinator/Transcript Evaluator. She will begin at the Fort Morgan campus on December 11, 2017.
Brown has most recently been with the Fort Morgan Workforce Center as their Labor & Employment Specialist. She received her B.A. in University Studies from the University of New Mexico and her A.A. in Liberal Arts from San Juan College.
“Elinor brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position,” said MCC President Dr. Curt Freed. “We look forward to Elinor using her background to expand manufacturing pathways work at the college and throughout the region.”
As Coordinator, Brown will be a liaison between industry, K-12 education, and MCC. She will lead the charge and help build awareness around what manufacturing is and is not. “Manufacturing is very technologically advanced—it’s not the same as our grandfather’s manufacturing career,” shared Workforce Development Dean Andrea L’Heureux. She furthered noted that currently there are 3.5 million jobs that go unfilled. “We want to expose students to the wide variety of careers that exist under the umbrella of manufacturing.”
In addition to supporting and promoting manufacturing, Brown will be an Academic Advisor and a transcript evaluator; she will determining which classes from other institutions can obtain course credit.
