Physical Therapist Assistant Application Requirements


  • Submit copies of transcripts from all colleges attended to the PTA Program Director. Official transcripts must be submitted before enrollment.

  • Submit PTA Program application to the PTA Program Director. (link to application)

  • Complete the MCC enrollment process.

  • Scores on the College Placement Exams of at least 95 in Sentence Skills and 61 in Algebra (or a grade of C or better in MAT 090). See college catalog for more details or exceptions to this requirement.

  • Submit three letters of recommendation on appropriate forms.

  • Document a minimum of 25 hours of time working or volunteering in a PT department.

  • Have results of a background check and drug screen sent to MCC no sooner that three months before beginning the program. (link to website)

  • Interview with the Program Director
If taken full-time, the program is 5 semesters in length. The courses needed to graduate total 75 credits. Upon completion, the graduate is awarded an Associate of Applied Science Degree. Students who cannot devote full-time to the program should spread the program over three years by taking some or all of the general education courses before the five semester sequence of technical courses.

Although BIO 106 is the required level of anatomy and physiology ( A&P), BIO 201 is recommended. A grade of C or better must be achieved in all required courses. A&P must be completed by the first semester in order to proceed in the program. Required English & Math must be completed by the end of the first summer of enrollment in the PTA Program.
