Ultimate responsibility for higher education in Colorado rests with the Colorado General Assembly. The General Assembly has placed the responsibility for the coordination of higher education in the hands of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE), a body of nine persons appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate and led by the Executive Director of the CCHE, who is also appointed by by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate.
