Purpose
|
In order to
encourage appreciation and understanding of art (painting, photography,
sculpture, etc.) Morgan Community College will purchase and display works
of art. Suitable donations will also be accepted.

Function
|

To
annually review the current collection and recommend needs which will
enhance the current collection.

Recommend
to the President an annual budget request for the purchase of one or
more pieces during the following year. Funds will be
approved/disapproved as part of the annual budget process.

Establish
the criteria for the type of piece(s) to be purchased and approve of the
selection of the piece(s).

Review and
approve/disapprove any works someone wishes to donate.

Designate
the location for purchased and donated pieces.

The team
will be responsible for the pieces in public areas of the colleges
(halls, LRC, Student Center foyer and hall, Founders Room, exterior
spaces, and other areas not considered to be an individual's office.)

College
purchased art will not be displayed in any individual's office.
Open office areas may include college or private pieces. Any
pieces must meet acceptable college criteria.

Selection of Pieces

Priority will
be given to pieces which:

are works
of artists within the college's service area, or
-
pieces
which reflect the past or present lifestyle or nature of Eastern
Colorado. Pieces, which do not meet either of these criteria, may
be selected based upon their general cultural or educational value.
Pieces to be
selected must be approved by the Art Selection Committee.

Membership
|
1 faculty
member, 1 classified staff, 1 administrator, 1 Advisory Council member
The team will
be appointed by the President and the President will serve as an ex-officio
member.
|
Terms
|
Terms will be
for four years with one member's term expiring each year. Members may
serve two full terms. Any partial terms are in addition to full
terms. The initial terms are as follows:

The team will
select its own chair.
