Administration of Corrective and/or Disciplinary Actions

for State Classified Employees

Policy

The President of Morgan Community College is vested with "appointing authority" to administer corrective and/or disciplinary actions to employees of Morgan Community College, as well as with the power to delegate such "appointing authority" to one or more employees of Morgan Community College. Pursuant to such power, the President hereby delegates such "appointing authority" to administer corrective and disciplinary actions to all authorized immediate or authorized first line supervisors (PACE evaluators) at Morgan Community College who are delegated to issue and administer corrective actions to those employees who are under their supervision.

Procedure

All formal Corrective Actions must be approved by the Office of Human Resources prior to issue.

Step 1. A documented verbal warning to include behavior change expected and a time line to be met.

An offer of assistance with the accomplishment of the behavior change.

Step 2. If the behavior change has not occurred in the allotted time frame, a written letter of warning shall be issued. This is to include the same type of information as outlined in #1. However, a consequence will be given if behavior change does not occur (a corrective action).

Step 3. If the requested behavior change has not occurred as agreed, a formal corrective action shall be implemented.

A. The corrective action form shall be completed by the authorized supervisor. The completed corrective action form shall then be reviewed and approved by the Office of Human Resources, prior to receipt by the employee to be corrected.

Step 4. In the event and upon notification that the corrective action has not been complied with, the delegated appointing authority shall notify the employee of a R-8-3-3 conference. Upon completion of the R-8-3-3 meeting and in consultation with the authorized supervisor and Dean, the hiring authority will recommend whether or not to implement disciplinary action and/or type of action to be implemented.
