Policy

In order to promote better relationships between K-12 schools and higher education, CC of C has authorized Presidents of State System Community Colleges to approve assignment of college employees to work on projects with local K-12 schools, up to a maximum of four hours per month. (Board Resolution, See SP Memo dated February 23, 1993)

Such projects might include:

  1. Parent-teacher activities
  2. School visitations
  3. Volunteer work
  4. Other school-related functions

Approval of requests for participation in this program are at the discretion of the College. Four hours per month are the maximum allowable under this policy and are not cumulative.

 

Procedure

Employees interested in participating in this program must make a K-12 Work Assignment Request which requires the following information:
  1. A brief statement about the activity in which they would like to participate
  2. The time and location of the event or activity.

If the activity is a scheduled school event, such as a meeting of a School Accountability Committee, a copy of the meeting announcement or agenda should be attached to the request.

The Supervisor shall forward the request to the Office of Human Resources who will assure that all signatures and documentation are present and verify that the work assignment does not exceed four (4) hours per month.
