MCC Students Qualified For Regional SkillsUSA Competition

Fort Morgan, CO. 03/19/15. Morgan Community College (MCC) students recently competed in the Skills USA District III contest. The areas of competition were Automotive Refinishing, Automotive Collision Repair, Automotive Service Technology, and Welding. Sixteen MCC students qualified to continue to the state competition in April.

MCC Student Honored at State Reception

Fort Morgan, CO. 03/18/15. The 17th Annual All-Colorado Academic Team Luncheon and Awards Ceremony was recently held to honor the top high-performing community service oriented students from 14 Colorado community colleges at the Denver Athletic Club Ballroom. Ana Nallely Campuzano Saenz was selected to represent Morgan Community College (MCC) on this year’s team.

Boulder International Film Festival Debuts at MCC

FORT MORGAN, CO. 03/17/15. The Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) is coming to Fort Morgan. Brought to you by Morgan Community College Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE), the community is invited to the free viewing on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. as MCC’s Bloedorn Lecture Hall is transformed into a film hall for this special event.

Fort Morgan, CO. 07/02/14.  Do you own or are you looking to expand your business? Or, are youNicole Alexander, pictured with MCC President Dr. Kerry Hart, was awarded first prize and $10,000 for her business plan for Synergy Health Club last December. Each student’s work is evaluated by a non-college panel at the end of each semester. The top three awards are funded through the El Pomar grant. looking to start your own business? Morgan Community College is now accepting applications for its Small Business Entrepreneurs Program. MCC has partnered with the El Pomar Foundation for a third year to provide access to quality training in Northeastern Colorado, and will be selecting ten students based on applications and a letter of recommendation.

Students will enroll in a three credit class, Entrepreneurship Business Plan (ENP 209). The course will meet evenings and/or Saturdays and run from August through December. During that time students will be provided course materials for use, including a laptop and software to keep with successful completion of the program.                           

The software will enable participants to develop a business plan, project costs, and calculate their return on investment. These sections will be graded and are part of the student’s final presentation. Instruction also includes group meetings, field trips, seminars, technology usage, as well as one-on-one mentoring. Tuition and fees for the 3-credit course are grant funded thanks to the El Pomar Foundation.

A non-college panel of judges will select the top three best business plans at the end of the semester according to defined criteria. Prizes will be awarded as follows:

First Prize            $10,000.00

Second Prize        $ 8,000.00

Third Prize           $ 7,000.00

All students will receive a Certificate of Merit for their work.

Applications are available online at www.MorganCC.edu/businessplan and must be submitted by July 31, 2014. Students will be notified by August 15 and classes will begin August 20. Along with the online application, a letter of recommendation from a business partner (non-family) must be sent to:

An awards banquet will be held in December to announce the winners and award the money to the top 3 students.
