Maria Baumbarger's Long Awaited Degree

Fort Morgan, CO. 02/05/16. Maria Baumbarger was recently surprised by an informal graduation ceremony upon visiting Morgan Community College (MCC). She returned to the Fort Morgan campus after leaving MCC five years ago—suddenly dropping out before completing her final course towards an Associate of Science Degree in Psychology.

Still Time to Enroll in Spring Classes

Fort Morgan, CO. 01/27/16. Morgan Community College (MCC) announces additional “late-start” class registration for eight- and ten-week courses that will begin in February and March. All classes conclude by May 15, 2016.

Free Tax Help Available at MCC

Fort Morgan, Colo. – This tax season, Morgan Community College (MCC) is partnering with the Denver-based Piton Foundation to help hard-working families become more financially secure by providing free tax preparation assistance through the Tax Help Colorado program. Beginning Tuesday, February 2, IRS-certified MCC students will prepare and e-file tax returns free of charge for individuals with household incomes of less than about $53,000 a year.

Fort Morgan, CO. 05/01/12.  Morgan Community College’s (MCC) financial aid office announces the awarding of $4,328 to seventeen new scholarship recipients for spring semester. These privately funded scholarships have been generously donated to the MCC Foundation by individuals, organizations and foundations in the community to promote student success at MCC.

“Every student that completed a scholarship application and enrolled at MCC received scholarship funding this year—97 students total,” said Carol Steward, MCC financial aid advisor.

Shawna Herrera (Brush) was awarded the Robert E. Hoggsett scholarship. She in studying nursing, and would like to be an LPN and work towards earning a RN certification.

Kayla Heitbrink (Brush) and Mendelle Graff (Fort Morgan) were awarded the Sunrise Optimist Greg Alsip scholarship. Heitbrink will graduate with her Radiologic Technology degree this spring, and Mendelle will continue to work on her nursing credits.

The Jeff & Martha Bieber scholarship went to Chrystal Carrera (Fort Morgan). Carrera has completed her second year in nursing, and will be pinned on Thursday evening, as will Ashley Weston (Fort Morgan). Weston accepted the Colorado Plains Medical Center Auxiliary scholarship this spring.

Heather Perez (Fort Morgan) was awarded the Regina Quarles scholarship.

The Rex & Doris Monahan Second Chance scholarship was given to Amber Lynn Otero (Brush). She intends to obtain an Associate of Arts degree with a designation in Psychology.

Foiles Family Memorial scholarships were presented to Kacee Holmes (Fort Morgan), Cassandra Fisher (Strasburg), Whitney Peterson (Fort Morgan), Justin Highberger Jr. (Fort Morgan), Geoffery Arnold Omondi Miyaiua (Greeley), Reba Renee Parrish (Wiggins), and Kathryn Shoemaker (Eaton).

Alberto Dominguez (Wray) was awarded a general scholarship from the MCC Foundation. He is looking forward to pursuing a career in chemical engineering.
