“The goal of this program is for students with good writing skills to be exposed to more writing experiences,” said Blue Horizons Secretary Carol Carlson. Attendees took part in a poetry and writing exercises, and evaluation sessions. Presentations were given by Todd Mitchell, young adult author and the Director of Beginning Creative Writing Teaching Program at Colorado State University in Fort Collins; author and journalist Jon Erickson; and Amy Ely, area teacher and writer. Blue Horizons, Inc. is a non-profit organization that meets the needs of Morgan County youth through coordinating and volunteering specialized programs, events, and activities. “I enjoy participating, these students has so much to offer,” noted the club’s oldest member, Kathryn George.
