Over the years Terrie L. Serrano had considered obtaining her GED, however outside influences had kept her from finishing. At age 42, Terrie decided it was time, and through a referral from the Colorado Workforce Center, entered Morgan Community College’s Adult Basic Education program at Cedar Hall—affectionately called by Terrie, “a little slice of heaven.”

“I knew I was interested in healthcare, and was working at a medical office when a patient mentioned to me she was attending the nursing program at MCC. The campus was just around the corner from where I lived, and I was excited to hear they offered nursing."

Erica Peña found a perfect fit at Regis University College for Professional Studies to complete her bachelor's after earning her associate of science degree at Morgan Community College. "It was a huge personal achievement! I'm the first one out of my whole family to actually go to college!" the Brush resident said.

Meredith Cox (Brush High School 2000) discovered she could take college classes at MCC while she was still in high school. In fact, she chose what was called the 5th year program that allowed her to extend her high school enrollment for an extra year while earning an associate degree. She said she enjoyed being with more mature students, “I thought it was really cool to be taking college course whilst still in high school-- just a different atmosphere from the typical high school classroom.” |
