“I decided on nursing, because I want to be able to care for my mom as she gets older, I’ve chosen the field of psychology because of my daughter—I’ve learned so much through her experiences. Nursing will provide me a career that I love and a chance to make a difference. I want to know my patients as people, not a number.”

Over the years Terrie L. Serrano had considered obtaining her GED, however outside influences had kept her from finishing. At age 42, Terrie decided it was time, and through a referral from the Colorado Workforce Center, entered Morgan Community College’s Adult Basic Education program at Cedar Hall—affectionately called by Terrie, “a little slice of heaven.”

“I knew I was interested in healthcare, and was working at a medical office when a patient mentioned to me she was attending the nursing program at MCC. The campus was just around the corner from where I lived, and I was excited to hear they offered nursing."
