Quote of the month: “This project is so important, we can't let things that are more important interfere with it." (Advertising/Marketing Manager, UPS)

The Steering Team is our featured team for February. Let’s find out a little something about them.

The AQIP Steering Team

Team Members: Carol Steward, Ruth Tryon, Phyllis Gertge, Kellie Overturf, Janie Hubbell, Betty McKie

Not pictured: Randy Watson, Michele Haney, Charles Duell

What have you accomplished this last year?

We have a good sense of our 3 areas and are looking at new initiatives.

  1. We have offered and given support to those action project teams who need help.
  2. We have reviewed progress and offered suggestions.
  3. We have communicated by listening to the progress reports of individual committees.

What are you working on this year?

  1. Reviewing activities to close-out completed action projects.
  2. Reading Systems Portfolios that have been identified by the Writing Team as having some good ideas for format and/or content.
  3. Informing and supporting AQIP Action Project Teams.
  4. Making sure the activities we are doing in AQIP mesh with our strategic planning and professional growth as individuals and as an institution. [We want to] really routinize the initiatives so they become part of the fabric of the College.

AQIP STEERING TEAM MISSION:

The mission of the AQIP Steering Team is to coordinate, encourage, and support those activities necessary to integrate the AQIP mindset into MCC’s systemic planning processes.

What have you discovered about MCC while working on this team?

MCC has many dedicated individuals who care about doing a good job and who are willing to take responsibility and support the activities necessary to ensure that action projects receive the attention they need.

What would you like people to know about the steering committee?

We have struggled to compare with [the] other times the college has completed accreditation. Want to make sure we have all the bases covered, and that everyone at the college understands the importance of the activities and feel they are a part of the process.

The main goal of the AQIP Steering Team is to encourage and allow all faculty and staff involved in the AQIP process to recognize their potential as participants in the on-going cycle of planning and achieving goals important to the success of the College.

Reminder: ALL AQIP TEAMS NEED TO HAVE THEIR TEAM REPORTS IN TO THE WRITING TEAM APRIL, 2006. Please keep that in mind as you continue working on your projects. Thanks!
