 Quote of the month:

Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance.

What is your reaccreditation IQ?
Rate yourself on the following scale:

  1. I have no idea what’s involved in reaccreditation.

  2. I have a grasp of reaccreditation but I’m wondering “What the heck is AQIP?”

  3. I know what AQIP is, but I’m still spelling it with a “u”.

  4. I have participated in an AQIP project or on a Systems Portfolio writing subteam.

  5. I have read all the AQIP newsletters and the Systems Portfolio.

As usual people have different degrees of awareness about institutional reaccreditation.  If you scored 1 - 3 above, you are encouraged to follow as many of the links on this page as needed to get caught up on the accreditation process and what your institution is doing.  If you scored a four you might want to catch up on past newsletters and/or read the Systems Portfolio.  If you scored a five, go straight to the Systems Portfolio Feedback link in the right hand column.

What is AQIP?
AQIP, the Academic Quality Improvement Program, is a system of reaccreditation for member colleges that are dynamic institutions actively engaged in organizational improvement.  AQIP combines institutional self-assessment with selected improvement initiatives known as Action Projects.

If you are new to MCC or simply want to refresh yourself on the process, please view the following PowerPoint slide show:  What the Heck is AQIP?

Where are we in the process?
We are currently about two-thirds of the way through our first AQIP cycle.  We completed our Systems Portfolio in May, 2007 and just received our Systems Appraisal Feedback Report

What’s next?
Following the Systems Appraisal, MCC can expect a site visit from AQIP.  ]

Meanwhile, we have already begun  working on our second set of Action Projects, which were formulated in Spring of 2007:  Institutional Assessment; Optimizing Institutional Effectiveness through Communication; and Creative Solutions to Rural Needs.

MCC also plans to send a team to an AQIP Strategy Forum in Spring 2008.

What can I do to help?
Staff is encouraged to join an Action Project Team.  Contact the team leaders for more information:

You may have noticed a couple of things  different in this edition of the newsletter.  We've added navigation buttons to move through the newsletters more efficiently.   (See the Prev/Next buttons in the upper left.) Keep your mouse in the same position and travel backward to the beginning of our AQIP journey and then go forward again!

The newsletter Index page has also changed.  Check it out here:

Finally, we've gone back and put issue numbers on each newsletter.  Check out issue #5, October 2005.  This should help us refer to other newsletters a little more succinctly.
