Student Evaluation of Faculty
CP 9-25 establishes the guidelines for the administration of student evaluations. All classes for all part-time faculty will be evaluated each year. Full-time faculty will have classes evaluated in agreement with the appropriate Division Chair. Please contact the Office of Instruction at ext. 3112 for directions on accessing the online evaluation
Course Syllabus
A master syllabus file is maintained in the Office of Instruction. Additional guidance may be obtained from your program area full-time faculty member. Some program areas have detailed course outlines and syllabus they maintain for accreditation and these must be adhered to. All faculty, both full and part-time, must submit a copy of their syllabus each semester to the Office of Instruction.
Program and Course Assessment
The College is required by its accrediting agency, the North Central Association (NCA), to implement measures of student academic achievement and institutional effectiveness in order to receive accreditation. Our goals are to assess instruction by measuring knowledge, skills and abilities of course of those who complete courses and programs, and to improve instruction based on these assessments. All faculty take an active role in assessment as part of their functional responsibilities: evaluates, revises curricular offerings and assessment of student academic achievement on an ongoing basis and develops new curricula as needed.
Entering Grades
Grades for all classes must be entered electronically in Banner no later than three working days after the class ends. All students who show as registered in the class must receive a final grade for the class. This includes students who may have stopped attending but are registered in the class. All students must have an assined grade. If you are confused about a student or a final grade, contact the Division Chair for assistance.
Students enrolled in college courses are protected through Federal legislation as to who may have access to their records. The MCC Student Handbook explains appropriate ways to deal with student information and how to respond to requests about student performance.
REMEMBER grades are not public information and cannot be posted on office doors, in classrooms, etc.
Materials to Division/Site Office
At the end of a term part-time instructors should turn in textbooks, keys and other classroom materials given to them at the beginning of the semester.
Record of Student Performance and Attendance
Each course syllabus includes information on how a student’s performance will be evaluated. During the term you have kept a record of each student’s attendance and his/her performance on projects and exams. Finally, you have calculated from this information a course grade. A copy of this performance record (grade book) for all students should be retained by the faculty. This information may be used with students who may have questions about their final grade.
