WELCOME! Principles of Marketing – MAR 216 Dear Student, Welcome to the Principles of Marketing Guided Study course. This course is designed to develop one of the most important business skills: your ability to develop, price, promote, and distribute products. You have chosen to take MAR 216 as a Guided Study course. The Guided Study format gives you maximum freedom and flexibility. There are no class meetings to attend; you do all the work at the time that is convenient for you; however, as with any semester-based course, there is a strict schedule to follow. With the freedom comes responsibility: the people who succeed in Guided Study courses are those with self-discipline. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to be self-directed and to stay on top of the material. You will be supported along the way in several ways: through the textbook, through the companion CD to the textbook, through discussions on WebCT, and through regular contact with the course instructor. Those who wish can partner up with other students in the class for additional support. Because there are a number of exercises involving the WebCT, ability to access the Internet is essential for this course. If you do not have Internet access, you will not be able to complete all of the work for the course. The first step, after reading the syllabus and examining the other materials on this course site, is to make direct contact with the instructor. This should be done the first week of classes. You may contact me on WebCT, by telephone or in person (contact information provided on syllabus). I look forward to assisting you with this class. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions. Very Truly Yours, Jaylene Evans 970-542-3168
