JPAGE_CURRENT_OF_TOTAL I. Student Access Goal: All Coloradans shall have access to comprehensive community college educational programs.
- MCC hosted a financial aid workshop at Fort Morgan High School on February 16, which was open to all Morgan County high school students. From 4-7:00 PM a steady stream of families took advantage of the service.
- CTE visits for high school sophomores and juniors at FMHS, Brush High School and Wiggins High School. Instructors from the CTE programs had the opportunity to acquaint the students with their respective programs.
- A $10,000 grant extension was received for the Wiggins High School Student Health Science and Technology Program.
- El Pomar Foundation awarded MCC with $7500 for scholarships for low income, local nursing students. These dollars can supplement other financial aid so that they could be used to assist with clinical transportation costs or program materials costs. Another $5000 was received from El Pomar to support additional Certified Nursing Assistant classes. These dollars can be used to pay instructors for these courses to increase the number of available CNA’s in the area.
- Upon the retirement of 17-year employee, Dianna Pfeifer, Deena Peck has accepted the position of Testing Center Coordinator and began work on February 15.
- MCC is nearing launch date for its portal, My MCC. The portal was unveiled at the February 22 professional development day as a vital tool for students, faculty and staff.
- Summer semester schedules are ready for print and will be mailed across the service area the first week in March.
- Using polycom technology, ENG 122 is being taught from the Fort Morgan campus to students at the MCC Wray Center. Likewise, MAT 090 is being taught at the Wray Center and shared with the Burlington Center.
- MCC is exploring ways to enhance communication with parents of prospective college students.
- The Colorado State Health Grants and the MCC Health Grants are enabling many more students to enter EMS training throughout the service area.
