Overdue Notices

Overdue notices are mailed as a reminder that the borrowed materials are due back to the library. Please renew or return the items promptly so that others may have access to the information.

Lost book notices are mailed when an item is 40 days overdue. You are responsible for  replacement charges unless the items are returned promptly and undamaged.

Notices will be sent to the local address on record at the library. Notify the library if you move or your contact information changes. Failure to receive a notice does not exempt you from monetary charges, loss of privileges, or holds on accounts.

Replacement Charges

MCC Library items more than 40 days overdue are deemed lost. If the items are not returned promptly and undamaged, you are responsible for the replacement cost of the title plus an additional $10.00 processing charge for each item.

Items deemed lost will result in one or more of the following:

  • Suspension or cancellation of library privileges
  • Blocks, including but not limited to, holds on registration, transcripts, financial aid

A hold is placed on MCC student records when library materials become forty (40) days overdue, so students cannot register for classes, obtain financial aid, get transcripts, etc., until the account is settled. Replacement charges are payable at the MCC Bookstore, and proof of payment (bookstore receipt) must be returned to library staff so that the hold can be removed.

The replacement cost and processing charges are waived if all materials are returned undamaged.
