Fort Morgan, CO. 3/01/13. The “Best of the Best” student artwork exhibit opens on Friday, March 15 at 4 p.m. brought to you by Morgan Community College’s (MCC) Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE). The exhibit will be held at the MCC CACE Gallery of Fine Art, located at 300 Main Street in Fort Morgan, and will run until April 25.

The show will feature artwork from Fort Morgan High School, Fort Morgan Middle School, Brush High School, Brush Middle School, Lincoln, Wiggins, New Raymer, and MCC. Each school will be submitting 5–15 pieces of outstanding work which will be reviewed by a jury of three. All area schools were invited to participate.

This year’s show will also display three wood carvings by Gordon Bok, beginning Friday, March 15 through April 12. “I’ve been a woodworker for most of my life. I had grown up around the local boatyards of Camden, Maine; they became my playground and place of learning,” recalls Bok. His woodcarving is a natural extension of his woodworking. "Some of these pieces represent the processing of some long-buried memories. Others are simply honoring the people I have known and the work they took pride in," says Bok.

An opening reception honoring student artists and their families will take place on the evening of Friday, March 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. The public is invited to attend and help celebrate the accomplishments local student artists and view Bok’s work.

The CACE Gallery of Fine Art is open every Friday evening from 4 to 6 p.m., and is often open for visitation during weekday business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. if staff is available.
