Burlington, CO. 2-26-13. Morgan Community College (MCC) Burlington Center is getting ready for spring and will offer three separate half-credit classes in calligraphy, beginning computers and painting. The courses will be held at the MCC Burlington Center, 340 S. 14th Street.
The first offering will be “Calligraphy,” a four session class taught by Margarita Osterman beginning March 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Those enrolled will examine the art of calligraphy by studying professional examples. Participants will learn the proper construction and spacing of a monoline Roman alphabet. Students will also develop an italic alphabet using a broad stroke pen. This course will cost $71.60, and is offered as a half credit.
“One-Stroke Tole Painting” will be a four session class also taught by Margarita Osterman beginning April 2 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. One-Stroke painting is a skilled method of decorating products dating back to the 1700’s. Traditional Tole Painting uses oil paint, however, this class will use acrylic. Those enrolled will learn how to load paint brushes, and how to apply the paint in a single stroke to create flowers, leaves, fruit, and vines. This course will cost $71.60, and is offered as a half credit.
“Beginning Computers” will be offered on Thursdays for four weeks beginning March 7. Sessions are offered in the afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., or in the evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The course will be instructed by Grant Kaster. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops or use the computers at MCC. This course will cost $71.60, and is offered as a half credit.
