Fort Morgan, CO 06/06/2018. The annual Best of the Best high school and middle school art show, a Morgan Community College Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) event, concluded the first week in May with three juried awards and a People’s Choice Award. Participating this year were students from Fort Morgan High School, Fort Morgan Middle School, Wiggins High School, Prairie High School and Middle School, and a homeschooled high school student.
Winning the Viaero Best of Show award was Ally Stroh (Fort Morgan High School). The Award of Excellence for high school sponsored by Morgan Lanes was given to David Brennan (Fort Morgan High School), and the Award for Excellence for middle school sponsored by Impressions by Bird was presented to Bryndel Burke (Prairie High School). Gallery visitors’ votes determined Prairie High School student Erik Lebsock’s 3-D piece as the People’s Choice, an award sponsored by Morgan Lanes and Willow Coffee.
CACE Coordinator Suzanna Spears presented certificates to all exhibit participants in recognition of their participation in the show. Fort Morgan Middle School art teacher Brenda Valdez coordinated this year’s event, which drew more than 60 visitors to the CACE Gallery of Fine Art at 300 Main Street. “The show included an intriguing variety of mediums and certainly spoke to the talent and expression of our Morgan County students,” said Mary Zorn, co-chair of the CACE Visual Arts Committee. “It is one of our favorite CACE spring events.”
