Fort Morgan, CO. 12/04/18.  Morgan Community College’s (MCC) Jazz Ensemble will be jazzing up the holiday season December 15, 7p.m. at the Fort Morgan Middle School

Nicholas Booker will direct the annual Winter Concert for the MCC Jazz Ensemble scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 15.

(605 Education Ave., Fort Morgan). The annual MCC Jazz Ensemble Winter Concert will take the audience on a journey through the holiday season including going home, romance, relatives, and even baking. This year’s festivities will include traditional favorites and modern hits from Vince Guaraldi, Glenn Miller, Louis Armstrong, Mariah Carey and more! Rosie O’Conner will be featured on vocals.


The MCC Jazz Ensemble will be directed by Nicholas Booker, a Colorado native with experience in music performance, education, composition, and direction from around the state. Booker, the group’s director since 2017, has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Denver and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the University of Northern Colorado. He is a bandsman in “The Governor’s Own” 101st Army Band, teaches music at the Converge School and Day Treatment Center, and performs as a singer/songwriter in the group All Those Who Wander.


The MCC Jazz Ensemble has achieved local, regional, and national notoriety. The group’s 2009 CD, Home Grown: The Music of Glenn Miller, earned play time on radio stations broadcasting in Denver, Breckenridge, Vail, Alamosa, and Hawaii. The ensemble has performed live on KUVO Jazz 89, has played by invitation twice at the State Capitol, was featured in the documentary, “Glenn Miller: The Birthplace of His Music,” and has performed concert series in other cities. Most recently, the ensemble was featured at the 2018 Christmas on the Corridor event in Strasburg, Colorado.
