MCC Recognizes Employees of the Year

Each year Morgan Community College recognizes employees for their achievements in carrying out the MCC mission, vision, and guiding principles.

MCC has named Dr. Jason Glasnapp as Faculty of the Year. Glasnapp has been with MCC since 2016 and currently serves as Physical Therapist Assistant Faculty. Jason holds a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Montana and a Master of Physical Therapy from Wichita State University.

“As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Jason has a mastery of his discipline.  His practical physical therapy experience in a variety of modalities enables him to bring real world experience to his teaching,” said Beth Carpenter, MCC’s Instructional Office Coordinator. “His excellence in service to staff is displayed in his leadership of the Assessment Committee, and the Physical Therapist Assistant Club has been one of the most active student organizations on campus under his guidance.”

Elinor Brown was named MCC’s Administrative/Professional-Technical Employee of the Year. Brown has been with Morgan Community College (MCC) since December 2017, serving as the Manufacturing Pathways Campus Coordinator. Elinor received her Bachelor of University Studies from the University of New Mexico and her Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from San Juan College.

“Elinor has been a leader and a mentor in the way she can manage multiple duties at once,” shared Taylor Jordan, MCC’s Success Coach. “I admire her ability to plan events that are well-thought out, organized, engaging for students, and enable collaboration between MCC departments.”

Sherri Amen was named MCC’s Part-time Instructor of the Year. Amen has been with MCC since 2008, teaching Early Childhood Education (ECE) classes. Sherri holds a Master of Arts in Education Administration and Policy Studies from the University of Denver, a Bachelor in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University, and an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Teaching from Northeastern Junior College.

“Sherri has taught for MCC for many years, and has consistently done a great job. She is very reliable and willing to go above and beyond the expectations for a part-time instructor,” stated Kathy Frisbie, MCC’s Vice-President of Instruction. “Sherri has helped us keep the ECE program running at MCC. Sherri has provided us with consistent leadership in maintaining the program. She is student-centered and a tremendous asset to the ECE program.”

Rashar Jackson was selected as the Classified Employee of the Year. Jackson has been with MCC since April 2015, serving as a Custodian in the Maintenance and Operations Department. “Rashar is an inspirational person who’s created an environment in which her team can really thrive. Her energy and commitment to her job make her a role model for hard work and self-motivation,” stated colleague Robert Sakamoto. “She has made, and continues to make, a rich contribution to the MCC experience.”

MCC Employees of the Year will be honored at an award luncheon hosted by the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education at the Governor’s Mansion in April 2020. Glasnapp, Brown and Amen will also receive National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Awards and attend the May 2020 International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin, Texas.
