MCC CACE Offers Colorado Shakespeare Festival Virtual Performance

Fort Morgan, CO 9/30/2020. Morgan Community College (MCC) Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) will offer a virtual performance of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing by actors from the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. The prerecorded performance will be available for the community to view either in-person or virtually, and all participants will be able to access a live talk-back session with the actors.

The in-person viewing will be held October 23, 2020 at 7:00 PM in Bloedorn Lecture Hall, located at 920 Barlow Road. Community members may also view the performance from the comfort of their homes by requesting a link that will be available for viewing October 21-23. The talk-back with the actors will be held via Zoom at 7:45 PM for both in-person and virtual participants immediately following the live viewing.

Much Ado About Nothing is a story about love, misunderstanding, and deception. Beatrice and Benedick hate each other, or seem to, and their friends devise a way to help the two confess their true feelings. Hero and Claudio love each other but must endure a plot to break them up. Much Ado About Nothing addresses the important topics of reputation, truth, trust and manipulation.

This abbreviated, 4-actor version of Much Ado About Nothing was developed by the Colorado Shakespeare Festival as part of their Shakespeare & Violence Prevention program for middle and high school students but is appropriate for general audiences.

The Fort Morgan event was originally scheduled to be a live performance in the Fort Morgan High School auditorium. Due to COVID-19, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival transitioned their performances to a virtual format, and MCC moved the viewing to Bloedorn Hall at the MCC campus.
Participants are requested to register at MorganCC.edu/muchado to RSVP for the free October 23 live viewing or to request the performance link. Seating for the in-person viewing is limited to 28 people. Participants will be required to wear facial coverings and practice social distancing.

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival is a professional theatre company in residence at the University of Colorado Boulder. For more information, visit cupresents.org/series/shakespeare-festival.

The performance is sponsored by generous CACE donors and by the Colorado Creative Industries (CCI).
