Annual Western Art Show Featured at Brush Rodeo

The show will feature both two-dimensional and three-dimensional western-themed art pieces. Artists may be available during the exhibit to discuss artistic techniques, and most of the artwork will be available for purchase.

Fort Morgan, CO. 6/24/2022 Morgan Community College (MCC) Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) will present the annual Western Art Show at the Brush Rodeo July 2-4, 2022, at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in the Mark Arndt Event Center, located at 750 Ellsworth Street in Brush. The exhibit will be on display July 2 and 3 from 3pm-7pm and on July 4 from 1pm-7pm.

The show will feature both two-dimensional and three-dimensional western-themed art pieces. Artists may be available during the exhibit to discuss artistic techniques, and most of the artwork will be available for purchase. CACE welcomes nineteen participating artists to this year’s show.

Recent Rodeo Posters have featured the artwork of a visiting artist from the previous year’s Western Art Show. Come out to discover which artist has been designated as the people’s choice Best of Show award winner for 2022.

“The Western Art Show is another example of a great partnership. The MCC Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) and the Brush Rodeo Association have been able to forge an expanded event of local, regional, and national artists whose works celebrate the great rodeo traditions,” said Suzanna Spears, CACE Coordinator.

CACE collaborated with the Brush Rodeo Association four years ago to coordinate the Western Art Show, according to Mary Zorn, CACE Co-chair of the Visual Arts Committee. “Excepting 2020 when the whole event was cancelled due to Covid, the Western Art Show has grown in size and interest. Each year we have had returning as well as new artists join the festivities in Brush,” said Zorn. “This year’s event will include two large sculptures by Platteville artist Bill Foy, which will be displayed outdoors at the Mark Arndt Event Center front entrance.”

The exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information about the Western Art Show, contact Suzanna Spears at (970) 542-3180 or [email protected]. Additional information about CACE is available at www.morgancc.edu./CACE.

“Kansas Cowboy” by sculptor Daniel Ney was chosen Best of Show in 2021. The image is featured on this year’s annual Brush Rodeo Poster, poster of events, and the rodeo program cover.
