Associate of Arts Degree
The Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree program is a two-year academic degree (limited to 60 credits) designed to transfer to 4-year institutions. It generally equates to the first two years of a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Depending on their educational goals, students choose from:
- An Associate of Arts without designation which is designed to transfer into liberal arts programs
- An Associate of Arts degree with a program designation which is designed to transfer into a specific four-year program.
You want this degree if: You are going into education, social work, or business. This is also a good degree if you’re not sure what you want to do or want to explore a variety of topics.

This degree is designed to meet individual career goals with no intent of transferring to Bachelor degree programs. This is perfect if you’re looking to get a promotion at your job or want a degree tailored to you and your interests. The A.S. is a two-year academic degree designed to transfer to a four-year degree program.
- Associate of Science without designation is designed to transfer into math and science degree programs.
- Associate of Science degree with a program designation is designed to transfer into a specific four-year program.
You want this degree if: You want to go into a medical, pharmacology, or engineering program at a four-year institution.
