Enjoy the realistic portraitures of Colorado artist Joshua McKenzie. Joshua’s style uses a variety of mediums to capture or create emotion by pushing color to its limits and capturing forms or shapes in every stroke.
Statement from the Artist
My name is Josh McKenzie, I am a self taught, 47 year old artist originally from Fort Morgan, CO. I have been working in art for over twenty years, but only as a full time profession for about a year. I love all mediums of art, but enjoy working in graphite, charcoal, and oil paint. My focus is on realism, though I often times use a more impressionistic approach to back grounds in portraiture. I strive to capture or create emotions by pushing color to its limits, by capturing forms and shapes in their simplest expressions, whether in brush or pencil strokes. Mastering the ability to capture moments in time, on paper and canvas is my life’s aspiration, to bring the joy of art, as well as the importance of every breath, to the world, as a student of life, until all that remains of me, are those moments, captured and left behind.
