CDHE Reports
MCC Reports to CDHE through two data collection systems.
Enrollment Reports
The Enrollment Reports are reported to CDHE as the official FTE and Headcount by various subsets of students.  This reporting does not break down FTE by demographic data.  The enrollment report is used in the state budgeting process.  Data is reported to this system manually through CDHE's reporting web site.
SURDS Reports
The SURDS data collected by CDHE for its own research and compilation into State reports.  SURDS data is also used to populate some of the IPEDS data fields for the IPEDS reporting to the federal government.  Data is reported to this system by uploading files to the SURDS site, which then compiles a report indicating any errors in the submission.  The SURDS reports include: Degrees, Undergraduate Applicant, Remedial, and Enrollment.
CDHE Retention Report
CDHE compiles and publishes an annual summary of retention rates for Colorado higher education, based on data submitted to CDHE through SURDS.

Census Information
Quickfacts.Gov is a US Census Bureau site.  http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/index.html (opens new window).
CIP Code
Classification of Instructional Programs code.  Link (opens new window).  The CIP is a six-digit code assigned to a content area by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).  Each MCC program of study has a CIP code; and each course has a CIP code that is assigned in the curriculum committee process.  The codes are used for tracking enrollment and completion rates at the federal and state level.  SURDS Degrees Granted report, for example, used to lists degrees and certificates earned by CIP code.  The SURDS Enrollment Report has a section that shows enrollment by Program Code, which includes the CIP code.  CIP codes are revised periodically; the most recent revision is the 2010 version.  In documents you may see references to CIP 1990, CIP 2000, or CIP 2010, which refer to the different editions of the codes.
COF
College Opportunity Fund.  Students qualifying for in-state tuition status are eligible for a stipend that reduces tuition.  Instead of receiving an appropriation directly from the legislature, the COF stipend shows students the value of the state funding they receive.  Funds are never in the students' hands; funds are basically moved in the student's name to the college they are attending.
Cognos
Cognos is "business intelligence" software by IBM.  It is used to retrieve data that is created and stored in the Banner system.  Cognos doesn't operate directly on Banner  files; it retrieves data that is stored in the "Data Warehouse" which is refreshed each night.  Each CCCS college has at least one person with access to the Cognos software to run pre-written reports and to write new reports. A catalog of reports avaiable can be found here.

Concurrent Enrollment
A general term to mean a college student who is also receiving high shcool credit for their course.  https://www.cde.state.co.us/postsecondary/concurrentenrollment
Continuous Improvement

Continuous improvement is an ongoing effort to improve products, services or processes. These efforts can seek “incremental” improvement over time or “breakthrough” improvement all at once.  Among the most widely used tools for continuous improvement is a four-step quality model—the plan-do-check-act (PDCA) cycle, also known as Deming Cycle or Shewhart Cycle.  The heart of AQIP is continuous improvement and this term also implies more emphasis on process than on product.  Link to AQIP home page (new window).
