My name is Kara Trast. I am a 48-year-old college student who never got the chance to go to college after high school. I wouldn't have been mature enough anyway. By the time I decided I was mature enough, I was married with two children and living in an area that didn't have any access to college classes.
At the age of 45, with my marriage failing and my children older, I found out that I could access college classes through the Wray campus and on-line. I jumped at the chance, not knowing whether or not I was capable of dealing with classes, work, and family. I have found out that not only am I capable of doing it, but I do it very well. I have a high GPA and am able to get scholarships. I have done all this in addition to getting divorced, transferring schools to take care of my ailing father, moving back to be closer to my children, and becoming a grandmother.
I am living proof that you can do anything--at any age--and excel at it. I am even in a class with my son. If you have the chance to change your life by continuing your education, go for it. I will regret many things in my life, but choosing to go back to school will never be one of them.
