Disabled Veterans Scholarship Established with MCC Foundation

The Disabled Veterans Scholarship initiative emphasizes the MCC Foundation and DAV's commitment to supporting those who have served our country and their families.

The Morgan Community College (MCC) Foundation announces the establishment of the Disabled Veterans Scholarship in partnership with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Northeast Colorado Chapter and the Eugene V. Doty Family Trust. This annual scholarship, valued at $1,000, is designed to support disabled veterans and their family members pursuing higher education at MCC. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be a veteran or the family member of a veteran living in northeast Colorado. This initiative emphasizes the DAV’s commitment to supporting those who have served our country and their families. Students interested in applying for the Disabled Veterans Scholarship can visit www.morgancc.edu/foundation/scholarships-endowments.

The Disabled Veterans Scholarship was created to honor Gene Doty’s legacy. Mr. Doty was dedicated to his community and to making a positive impact. He and his wife, Barbara Repp, started a successful Dairy Mart in Brush, Colorado, before embarking on a real estate career. Gene’s contributions extended far beyond his professional life, as he was inducted into the Colorado Auctioneer Hall of Fame for his outstanding service and played a pivotal role in founding Fort Morgan State Bank. His generosity touched various charitable organizations, including the City of Fort Morgan’s Senior Center, St. Jude’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Boys Town, Children’s Cancer National Hospital, AARP Foundation, Shriner, National Jewish Hospital, and Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch. Moreover, he contributed funds to develop Doty Ponds in Brush for recreational and fishing purposes.

“The MCC Foundation is thrilled to announce another new scholarship,” stated Susan Clough, Director of Development for the MCC Foundation. “The Disabled Veterans scholarship will help a former service member or family of a service member with education expenses to attend Morgan Community College at any of the MCC Centers.  We thank the Chapter, Commander Lousberg, and the Eugene V. Doty Family Trust for funding this annual scholarship.”

The mission of the MCC Foundation is to secure financial resources for growth and development of Morgan Community College and to provide an exceptional learning environment for students.
