Learn the Skills You Need

Our Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Welding Technology teaches the basics of welding and prepares you for entry-level welding jobs — or even a starting management position in a welding shop. You’ll gain hands-on experience and the confidence to start working right after graduation.

All students should have these tools by the first week of the semester.

Every student is required to have the General Beginning Welding Tools list. Additional tool lists are organized by class and apply only to the courses you are taking.

Welding student covered in personal protective equipment including a welding helmet and glvoes.

All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – fire resistant shirts, welding gloves, safety glasses, leather jackets, boots, and pants wear down overtime and you may need to replace and have multiples of them!

Meet the Faculty

MCC staff member Tyler Wunsch

Tyler Wunsch

Tyler Wunsch has been a Welding Faculty Member at MCC since 2019. An alumnus of MCC, he earned his Shielded Metal Arc Certificate while still in high school and later completed his associate’s degree in 2018. Since 2017, Tyler has worked as a foreman, crew leader, and fabricator at Buchanan Welding, continuing his role during summers while teaching at MCC. Additionally, Tyler is a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).

Zach Evans

Zach began teaching full-time as a welding instructor in the spring of 2025 and has worked in various shops as a welder since 2018. He attended MCC in 2019 and graduated in 2021 with an Associate of Applied Science with a major in Welding Technology.

Zach lives in Logan County with his wife and dog. He loves hunting, fishing, and adventures.
