At Tax Help Colorado you can get FREE tax help from a trustworthy, IRS-certified tax preparer through Morgan Community College. If you make less than $69,000 a year, you are eligible for free tax help and may qualify for a refund that puts money directly back into your pocket.

Tax Help Colorado can help you access valuable tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit (worth up to $8,046).

Tax Help Colorado 2026 Schedule

Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays

Dates: February 3rd – March 5th.

Appointments: 2pm-6pm

Location: MCC Fort Morgan Campus, Cedar Hall (see campus map) or at the MCC Burlington Center

Due to IRS regulations, IRS-Certified volunteers cannot prepare returns with the following characteristics:

Income From:

  • Rental properties
  • Farming
  • Royalties (unless reported on Schedule K-1 or 1099-Misc Box 2)
  • Ministers and members of the clergy
  • Other gains/losses

Certain Credits & Deductions

  • Mortgage interest credits
  • Qualified adoption expenses
  • Health coverage tax credit
  • Federal tax paid on fuels
  • Casualty losses

Other

  • Income over $69,000

For joint returns, both individuals must be present to sign the required forms!

FAQ: What is Tax Help Colorado?

A partnership between Mile High United Way and the Colorado Community College System, Tax Help Colorado offers free tax preparation assistance to the individuals who earn less than $60,000 a year, helping to ease the burden of commercial tax preparation on low-wage earners. The program was launched in 2007 to help link even more Colorado families to valuable tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

The volunteer preparers are MCC students and community volunteers who completed the Tax Preparation courses at MCC and have become IRS-Certified Tax Preparers.
