MCC Recognizes 2025 Employees of the Year

These employees were selected for their achievements in carrying out the college’s mission, vision, and guiding principles.

Morgan Community College (MCC) announces its 2025 Faculty of the Year, Administrative/Professional-Technical Employee of the Year, Part-time Instructor of the Year, and Classified Employee of the Year.  These employees were selected for their achievements in carrying out the college’s mission, vision, and guiding principles.

MCC named Renee Sperry as Faculty of the Year. Sperry has been a member of MCC’s Nursing Faculty since 2020.  She is a dedicated and innovative nursing instructor who goes above and beyond to support her students’ success. Known for her hands-on approach, Sperry prepares students with comprehensive materials that foster deep understanding and confidence during lab and simulation sessions. She mentors students and colleagues alike, promoting collaboration and creating a supportive learning environment. Sperry’s contributions extend beyond the classroom, where she has developed and overseen a rural track program, secured scholarships, and built partnerships with colleges statewide.  Her passion for teaching, innovation, and community service makes her an invaluable asset to MCC and the nursing profession.

Troy McKie was selected as MCC’s Administrative/Professional-Technical Employee of the Year. McKie has been with MCC since 2005 and is currently the Director of Academic Technology. Over the years, he has held various roles, including Academic Technology Coordinator, IT Professional, and Instructional Media Specialist. Known for his expertise, Troy is dependable, proactive, and dedicated to supporting students, faculty, staff, and guests who use MCC facilities. He anticipates challenges and works to resolve them, ensuring smooth experiences for all. Troy is an asset to MCC because of his solution-oriented approach, commitment to excellence, and supportive nature.

Brandie Bellefeuille was named MCC’s Part-time Instructor of the Year. Bellefeuille has been serving as a science instructor since 2016. She is known for her outstanding ability to make science both engaging and accessible for her students. Bellefeuille excels in communicating complex concepts in clear, visual ways, fostering an enjoyable and effective learning environment. Her commitment to MCC’s standards is evident in her thorough planning and guidance. Bellefeuille has inspired many students, with one noting that she is their favorite teacher and a key reason they are pursuing a career in science.

Curtis Dykes was selected as the Classified Employee of the Year. Dykes has served in the Maintenance and Operations Department at Morgan Community College as a Structural Trades II employee since 2016.  He is a dedicated and skilled member of the M&O team, ensuring the college facilities operate smoothly each day. Dykes faithfully opens the campus on time, inspects facilities for issues, and handles a variety of maintenance tasks without disrupting staff or students. His mechanical expertise allows him to troubleshoot problems and perform tasks to keep systems running efficiently. Dyke’s commitment to MCC is evident in his attention to detail and his continual efforts to provide safe and comfortable work and learning environments for all.

MCC Employees of the Year were honored at a Colorado Community College System “Employee Commitment to Excellence” celebration with the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education on April 8, 2025, at History Colorado in Denver. Sperry, McKie, Bellefeuille, and Dykes will also receive National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Awards and be recognized at MCC’s End-of-Year Awards luncheon.
