Getting Ready to Graduate? Apply to Receive Your Diploma First
Congratulations, you are finishing your classes and are getting ready to graduate!
The first step is to apply to receive your degree or certificate. Remember, you must complete the Application for Degree/Certificate in order to be awarded your diploma.
To avoid any surprises, we also recommend that you use Degree Check (inside MyMCC) every semester. Here you can verify that you will be completing the requirements for your declared degree program or certificate. You will also verify that you have all the required credits and meet GPA requirements.
Applications are due during your LAST SEMESTER.
Fall: Dec 4, 2026
Spring: May 8, 2026

Notices
DEGREE CHECK
You are required to run your Degree Check degree audit to be sure you are on track and/or meet with your academic advisor to assure your requirements will be completed by the end of your planned graduation term.
DIPLOMA NAME & MAILING ADDRESS
Check your MyMCC record to be sure your full name and mailing address are current and correct, as these will be used for diploma creation and mailing. Diplomas are free of charge and do not require Commencement Ceremony participation.
COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
Participation in the MCC annual Spring Commencement Ceremony is encouraged, but not required. A fee must be paid to the MCC College Store to reserve your space at the ceremony and to order your diploma cover, cap and gown. When an in-person ceremony is not possible, a ‘live’ virtual ceremony is held and students must meet deadlines to provide information for inclusion of photos, name pronunciation, and thank you statements.
LATE GRADUATION APPLICATIONS
Students who file graduation applications after the term deadline may risk missing deadlines for:
- Graduation honors designations and honors cord
- Graduation publicity
- Inclusion in the commencement program listings, programs, and commencement participation (in-person or virtual). They may also incur a delay in final graduation processing and receipt of diploma beyond the usual 6-8 weeks after the term ends, as well as be charged extra for commencement participation by the College Store.
