Financial Aid

Purchasing Books Using Financial Aid

How It Works

Required books and supplies can be charged to your student account approximately three weeks before the semester starts until approximately 10 days after the first day of the semester.

  • Financial aid funding (including grants, scholarships, and loans) that is in excess of your term tuition and fee charges can be used to purchase books and supplies (up to $1,800/semester).
  • If your class schedule changes, your financial aid may also adjust. Please keep this in mind when ordering books and supplies.
  • You must select “Financial Aid” as the form of payment at checkout.

Note:

You will receive an email (to your MCC student email address) that contains your bookstore voucher code. This code allows you to use your financial aid to purchase books. If you have not received a code or are having trouble using your voucher code, please contact Financial Aid.

What You Need to Know

  1. This service is intended for the purchase of books and necessary supplies.
  2. You must apply for and be awarded Federal Student Aid before you can charge your books and supplies to your account. You can start this process by completing the Free Application for Federal student Aid (FAFSA Application).
  3. The amount of money (grants, scholarships and loans) you have been awarded must exceed your total tuition, fee, books, and supplies charges. If your charges exceed available aid, you are responsible for paying the difference.
  4. By charging your books and supplies on account, you agree to adhere to the policies and procedures of the MCC Financial Aid Office and Barnes and Noble Online Bookstore. These policies include, but are not limited to, refunds, returns and exchanges.
  5. Financial Aid funds available to purchase books may be limited. Check with the Financial Aid Office if you have questions about your eligibility before charging books to your student account.

REMEMBER, your bookstore charges will be subtracted from any financial aid refund you may have coming to you.
