I like that at MCC, everybody is there to help you whenever you need it. At the beginning of the year, I had no idea what I was doing. I’m a first-generation college student and my parents and I didn’t know how this worked, and everybody helped me as much as they could. It was a really great experience for me. It made me more confident in myself and I’m really glad that I’m here.

Faculty Spotlight

Monica Carrasco

Monica became interested in the Spanish language growing up in a biracial Mexican-American family. She has served as a professional interpreter in medical, mental health, and victim services and found this role to be very rewarding. Monica says there is nothing like connecting with someone by speaking their native language. Monica is now beginning her journey to advocate for the Spanish language in our community and hopes to inspire future generations of students by making language relevant to their experiences. Monica’s passion for the Spanish language is presented through a variety of fun and interactive activities in the classroom.
