Advisory Council

The MCC Advisory Council supports the mission of the college by serving as community liaisons and advisors to the MCC President.  They are recommended for their positions by the MCC President and appointed by the State Board of Community Colleges and Occupational Education.  The Advisory Council meets a minimum of four times annually and members may serve up to two consecutive four-year terms.

As stated in State Board Policy 2-25, the purposes of college advisory councils are:

  • To advise the college presidents and the Board on the long-term educational needs of the area served by the college and on other matters identified in statute. (See C.R.S. 23-60-206)
  • To serve as liaison between the college and area employers in order to facilitate assessment of employment, training and educational needs of the service area.
  • To serve as liaison between the college and local school boards, county commissioners, city councils, other local elected officials and other relevant groups or persons.
  • To promote the college’s programs and services among the communities and constituencies in the college’s service area.
